I am interested in many things. I want justice and get upset by some things in the world.

Theme issues

Widgets was unavailable in the “appearance.”

The website had accessibility or navigation problems in 2022. Sorry for the inconvenience. In 2023 I just changed the theme from “blank canvas” to “twenty sixteen” and that solved the problem.

I don’t like how they have preset content in themes as if it’s a complete website. Just ridiculous that I would have to delete all the theme-specific content.

Reddit karma, upvotes and downvotes

The edit I put on the following post, I planned to write in a comment to one of the comments, but I changed my mind.

What I would have done differently in my replies to the comments of the following post:

In response to the comment saying “pretty good way of getting more downvotes,” I would have said “You’re right! I should have known better” instead of what I actually said.

Otherwise, to the comment that said “A downvote can’t be false,” I would also have said “You’re right!”

As for being nervous about checking the karma, it’s like “If into the profile you go, only pain will you find.” Like Yoda said in a scene from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Check it out (SPOILER alert!):

I used to care about karma. But I don’t care about people say. Check out the book in the following video:

You could also buy the movie at https://www.amazon.com/You-Are-Special-Andrea-Jobe/dp/B00008V5UT

Also, sometimes I think of the idea that only one who is willing to let go of karma completely can truly earn it. Sounds like a Buddhist, or Askari from the Lion Guard. Couldn’t find a video.

SPOILERS for “You are special” below

That doesn’t mean that you will lose negative karma by not caring about it, but it also doesn’t mean you will lose positive karma by not caring about it.

Pixar Theory vs. real life – anything being forgotten can be tragic!

Look at SuperCarlinBrothers, who didn’t invent the Pixar theory but popularized it. Jon Negroni came up with the Pixar Theory.

Pixar’s Coco and other movies. A theme about being forgotten.

Now in real life

Homepage DD1US music has been missing from Homepage DD1US since around 2006.

I don’t want the songs by Xigmatek (like Cyber Galaxy, Aeon, Mind Effects, Electro magnetic Brain) to be forgotten like spoilers mentioned down below. His YouTube channel has been gone since like 2013, and all of his songs became unavailable on Spotify and Apple Music in I don’t remember, maybe 2014 or 2015. Some of his songs are still available on SoundCloud, but unfortunately some of them (like Cyber Galaxy and Electro magnetic brain) are not.

Remember Buzz Lightyear of Star Command? That’s not as close to being forgotten as the two above.

Infinit.sh – died in 2017 onwards after being acquired by Docker in 2016. Nothing new in 2017, went offline in 2018, got back online in like 2019 but reverted back to what it was in 2015, then got taken over by Infinit Marketing, and then in early 2022 went offline. Don’t want that novel decentralized filesharing network to be forgotten like spoilers for Inside Out and Coco down below.

3Leaf Systems – closed in like 2009.

Not to mention the Grail Engine, for which the site had nothing new since 2013 and went offline in like 2017. See https://www.enginelabs.com/news/video-grail-engine-technologies-two-stroke/

Any that I missed will be down here before spoilers

Mill Computing at https://millcomputing.com/ – the site is still up, but the belt machine project seems inactive. I didn’t even know Mill Computing existed until October 9 of 2022. The site may go offline soon.

Willis Floating Lever – http://www.willis-organs.com/Floating.html and http://www.willis-organs.com/news01.html are broken.

Not to mention the Vocalion, which has large, broad rectangular reeds feeding into resonance chambers known as qualifying tubes.

SPOILERS for inside Out and Coco below (in that order)

Bing Bong

Chicharrón

If I missed any, I will list them below and mark more spoilers in the heading above.

Harmonium vs. bacon

Take a look at David Forde’s post at https://mander-organs-forum.invisionzone.com/topic/496-21st-century-barker-lever-replacement/ It says “Horrible harmonium type feel to the action.”

Another message made public on the subject ”inflate-to-play and exhaust-to -play” was in response to William Baker. I will get the link later. Here’s a quote from it:

All the actions described here had far better response, reliability and longevity than even the best of the equivalent German systems, all of which are rather harmonium-like to play

Could say the same for the taste of bacon. Grilling and smoking with an unclean LPG or CNG flame and/or with hardwood can result in an awful bacon-like taste (c.f. “horrible harmonium-like feel”), as can overcooking sausage.

Bacon-like taste is as undesirable in cooked meat as harmonium touch is in tracker organs, and a harmonium-like touch is as undesirable in tracker organs as a bacon-like taste is in meat.

Europe does it better

Parliamentary government vs. Presidential system. Also Europe uses metric, America uses U.S. Customary units which are similar to the traditional Imperial units.

As for vehicles, Europe has better sports cars and racing cars. From Lamborghini to Bugatti, and even Audi and Porsche.

America however has better trucks from Mack, Peterbilt, and Freightliner semi-trucks to monster machines like Caterpillar excavators and large Terex dump trucks.

America also has a great aircraft carrier fleet, not to mention heavy bombers like the B-52.

Japan also has great cars.

As for music, Europe definitely does it better, because it has more EDM from electro house to trance to Eurodance. Europe even does it better with a post-industrial genre called aggrotech. Germany does especially well with electronic music from electro-industrial and aggrotech to power noise to trance, electro house, and Eurodance. Dutch is stronger with EDM. America on the other hand is saturated with pop, rock, hip hop, and even country, and also has much big room and bass. Europe is also a home of many great classical composers, from Bach to Handel to Haydn to Beethoven to Mahler. America and the UK however do better with rock (both classical and modern) and heavy metal. Edit: I forgot to mention that America has great marching band and military band music.

Ridiculous subscription pop-ups

http://www.thediapason.com – “This content is reserved for paid subscribers. Please provide us with the information below to unlock this.” Why does the full content show then to be blocked by a pop-up?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk – “Save over 85% on a Digital Subscription and stay jolly well informed this festive season. Cancel anytime. Act now – offer ends 29 December 2021.” – why isn’t there an X button? Why isn’t there an option to “I’ll try later” or “no thanks, just continue to the ?

National Geographic – “Enter your email to continue,” “Science is more important than ever – stay informed,” “Yes! I would like to receive updates, special offers, and other information from National Geographic and The Walt Disney Family of Companies. By creating an account, I agree to the Terms of Use and acknowledge that I have read the Privacy Policy and California Privacy Notice.” why do I have to subscribe and receive updates in order to view content? There really should be an option to “I’ll try later” or an X button or “no thanks, just continue to the site.”

And don’t forget TechTarget.com. I need a corporate email address to view some of the content. For a reason I think DOES concern me, I can’t use a personal email address. Is it intended only for corporate users?

One more: The Atlantic, with the following: “We hope you’ve enjoyed your free articles.” “Already a subscriber? Try one month of unlimited digital access.Start your free trial today. Cancel anytime.”

Edit: One more – “The Economist with Get to the end of the story” “Subscribe today with 50% off your first 12 weeks.”

One more – Bloomberg. “Limited time only: Subscribe now with an exclusive introductory offer. Cancel anytime.”

All of the above show full content, then to either disappear or be blurred or be blocked by a pop-up. Why? In the former case, why isn’t it like independent.co.uk in which “I’ll try later”? In the latter case, why isn’t there an X button or “I’ll try later” or “No thanks, just continue to the site”? Don’t those sites know that people can CTRL-A and then CTRL-C the entire article and then paste it onto notepad or email? Why don’t they keep the reserved content down on the server and ONLY load it to the client when the client is subscribed? And why is some of the reserved content indexed by Google?

Re-pronouncing words, and more pronunciation conundra

Yucky should be yuʀ̥y, with a voiceless uvular trill. What’s more yuʀ̥y than muʀ̥? Not Voiceless uvular fricative. Not ꭓ. I know, the voiceless uvular trill symbol looks like an R. The ck could be a voiceless uvular affricate.

Thank you so fiʀ̥en much! I’m censoring the four-letter word.

Voiceless velar affricate for the ch in Greek derived words. Cark͡xarodon and others with a hard ch. Cxords. Cxoreography.

Good idea huh?

Braʜiosaurus – with voiceless pharyngeal/epiglottal trill. Deinosuʜus (daɪnəˈsjuːʜəs)… I don’t think there is such a sound in Greek.

Guess the letter K is redundant. That’s why it’s not in Spanish, Italian, French, or Gaelic. As if, since there’s already a C, don’t need another letter for the same sound. Did the letter K originate in an old Germanic alphabet and get borrowed by the Roman alphabet? But the ch in Latin and Greek derived words – isn’t the H redundant in Deinosuchus and Choreography? Isn’t the H pointless? Sure, in Brachiosaurus, the H blocks the i from palatalizing/softening the C. In Italian, the H doesn’t palatalize the C. Instead, it BLOCKS the E or I FROM palatalizing/softening the C.

Definition of redundant: duplicate or unnecessary.

One more: Why isn’t elasmobranch pronounced elasmobrantʃ? Why is it elasmobronks and not elasmobrantʃes? It contains the English word branch. Pronouncing elasmobranch the way it’s said to be pronounced is like saying “tree bronk” or ”tree brahnk.” What? Elasmobranch isn’t even related to the English word branch? Convergent evolution…

I deleted a post that was blasphemy

It had a very harsh stance on God and the Bible.

The following Jehovah’s Witnesses sites even link to it.

There must be more than life on Earth. In Beauty and the Beast, Belle says ”there must be more than this provincial life” in a song. But in real life, I think there must be more than this Earthly life. There must be more than humanity. Angels don’t cut it. There must be more to god’s creation than revealed or even implied in the Bible.
